As of version 6.01 Softimage XSI has native Collada support.
Due to problems with the native XSI Collada exporter the following workaround has been established
- Instead of exporting directly to Collada from XSI, export to FBX. You can do this by selecting File -> Crosswalk -> Export FBX
- Download the Autodesk FBX 2006.11.1 Converter here
- Use the Autodesk FBX Converter to convert to Collada
- Use the Collada file produced by the Autodesk FBX Converter to import into C4
If you are only exporting static meshes you can use the native XSI Collada exporter, just be sure to select "Plot all deformations" from the "Shapes" drop box in the exporter's settings dialog. Note that models will be orientated incorrectly and may have to be rotated in C4. This is because XSI uses the Y plane for the up axis instead of the Z plane.
