Talk:Creating a Basic World
From C4 Engine Wiki
There is a mention of ALT-clicking and dragging to move the viewport contents. I'm not sure what the modifier key is on the Mac, so perhaps a C4 developer with a Mac could add that modifier in parenthesis? Huidafa 17:53, 1 July 2006 (PDT)
It's the Option key on the Mac. Eric Lengyel 02:57, 6 July 2006 (PDT)
I think for the cannon release I'll move the creation of the water material out to an new Wiki tutorial and maintain a reference here. Is this ok with everyone ? --JamesH 00:02, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
Apparently creating water will be much easier in cannon. So it might be that this could stay here if it will be dead easy ;) --Optime 05:33, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
I'll wait and see what the changes are exactly, IIRC there are also some new underwater effects going to be added as well. --JamesH 06:11, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
I'm in the process of rewriting this tutorial and have decided to alter it quite a bit. I'm going to split it into 2 parts, the first is about creating a simple world file covering the following topics
- Setting up the Virtual File System
- New world settings and creating a skybox
- Adding Geometry
- Player and Spectator Spawning
- Weapons and Ammo
The second Part will look at importing a terrain and adding water etc - then it can be easily changed for Fireball.
what's anyone think ? --JamesH 00:30, 11 December 2007 (PST)
Sounds very good. New users will find this super useful, a lot of questions are asked on the forums which would be covered by this tutorial.
If you're feeling adventurous you could add a section covering the basics of importing a texture/geometry too.

I thought about this as well. I'll see how I get on, if I have a main page with sub headings then the articles can be maintained independently (as long as they follow the same theme and loosely update the same respective world file)
Let me get the main article out and then see what we can do, I'll create a forum topic. --JamesH 00:46, 11 December 2007 (PST)
How about using a template to create an index like I have with the Content Creation Programs page?

Sounds good, I'll give it a shot.--JamesH 02:18, 11 December 2007 (PST)
