Graphics Hardware Compatibility

From C4 Engine Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The following charts provide information about C4 Engine compatibility with various graphics hardware.

Any newer graphics chips from Nvidia or AMD that are not listed here will be fully compatible with all C4 Engine features.

If the exact number in the name of your graphics card is not listed here, it does not mean that your graphics card is not supported. All of the graphics cards from the same generation have pretty much the same capabilities, but just run at different speeds. The thing to really watch out for is the second digit in your graphics card's name. Low numbers here can mean extremely bad performance. For example, a GeForce 9800 is a great high-performance graphics card, but a GeForce 9100 is a terribly slow graphics card even though it has the same rendering capabilities. The slowest graphics cards in the earliest supported generations are generally inadequate, which is why we require a GeForce 8600 or Radeon 2600 at minimum.

Intel Graphics Hardware

Note: Intel graphics chips have far lower performance than GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. Whether C4 runs well on Intel GPUs depends largely on the quality of the OpenGL drivers supplied by Intel, which is notoriously bad.
